Greece is amazinggg. First thing this morning we rented a car and drove out of the city, stopping at Corinth, Mycenea and then at our destination, Nafplion. The ruins and things we saw yesterday were really cool, but the city itself is pretty gross and I was happy to get out. My parents amazingly enough navigated through the streets and out of the city without getting too lost or killing us, or each other in the process.

| Canal at Corinth |
We stopped in Corinth to look at the canal. It was way cooler than I had expected! The canal width was relatively narrow, but the water was such a vivid blue color it looked like it had food coloring in it. The walls were completely vertical for what looked like a mile. On both sides of the road were paths over the canal that we walked on and one even had an additional hanging path underneath one side for bungee-jumpers.
We drove for a while more and ended up in Mycenea-- a huge ancient fortress, the remaining ruins of course, that date back to sometime BC. It had a beautiful view of inland Greece with all the fields. It was super hot, but had a strong breeze making it easily bearable. It seems to have been that way so far in Greece—super sunny and hot, but breezy which makes the weather actually really enjoyable.

Lastly we ended up at our destination—Nafplion… aka my new home. The streets are lined with blooming bougainvillea in all shades of fuchsia and pink! The town is just adorable with little walkways full of character in every corner. Not to mention the town is lined by the glistening Mediterranean Sea and has a mountain with another fortress on top (goal is to make it to there tomorrow). We attempted to find our way to the fortress today, but didn’t quite figure it out, although we found many other beautiful sites.

After our sightseeing around town, we headed over to the beach (composed of smooth rocks-- not sand) and took an evening swim, finishing just as the sun was setting. Definitely highlight of my day, too bad not pictures from it.
