My last day in Greece! Sad, but I’m excited for the next part of my trip—studying in Florence! It was an absolutely perfect day. We caravanned to the south part of Crete to check out the beaches on the opposite side of the island. It was about an hour and half drive, maybe two, and we ended up checking out this huge castle. It looked like it was kinda just plopped down in this random area. There was no one guarding it or charging for it, so we mosied on in. It was really cool and when we went out the rear entrance, we were right on the beach! It was so beautiful and such a cool feeling being in a huge castle in ruins and being on a gorgeous beach. There were lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach, so we posted up for the day enjoying the sun and swimming.

The drive was picturesque as well, winding through gorges with beautiful views of the ocean. We stopped several times to look at the view, and on the way back, we found a church built into the mountainside.
Our final dinner was absolutely amazing! Our landlord had arranged to cook us a lamb feast, and it was soo good. All the appetizers were amazing and well, everything was delicious. I’ve definitely eaten my weight this trip it’s ridiculous. Literally our entire trip has basically revolved around eating—not that I am in the slightest complaining. The whole culture here is much slower and long meals are the usual.

Greece has been so much fun and I’ve loved every aspect of it! It is a relaxing culture and I’ve loved sitting and enjoying the company of my friends and family, which seems to be the focus of the Greek lifestyle. I’m going to miss everyone, but it’s time to go to Florence!
