I've become a Tour Guide

Today I met back up with Megan and her friends to introduce them to the city. We walked around for a while; booked our train tickets for Cinque Terre on Saturday and I introduced them to the San Lorenzo Leather Street Market! Not sure if this was the best or worst thing I did for them and their bank accounts….they got lots of cute stuff tho! When we were at the train station booking tickets, we also tried to book Venice for Friday, but found out that there was a planned strike, so we can’t go. I really hope I can still make it there!!
In photography class we are currently working with film, which is totally new to me. The other day we shot portraits outside and in the studio, and today we developed our film—so much harder than I ever imagined! I totally thought a ‘dark room’ had those red lights so you could see what you were doing. Much to my surprise, my friend and I were put in a tiny room with our film (still in the hard aluminum casing), a reel and a canister. We then had to attempt to figure out how to get the film out of the casing (I didn’t understand how to use the bottle opener at this point), then felt to figure out how to latch the film onto the reel and wind it up. Of course we were given demonstration prior to entering the dark room, but it was still way hard! Anyways, we did it and then proceeded to develop it.

After class I met back up with Megan and the girls. We went to the train station to catch a bus up to Palazzo Michelangelo to watch sunset, but after waiting for about 10 mins we found out that the bus was on strike… what is going on with all of these strikes?! We then opted for plan 2 so that we could still see the sunset. I took them to my favorite place in Florence, the Arno damn! If you’ve read my prior blogs, you know how much I love it and how beautiful the sunset is! It was no different today, with a gorgeous sunset.
